FAIRMONT – Fairmont’s jayvee boys held off East Bladen 33-30 Friday to remain unbeaten in Southeastern Athletic Conference basketball action. The Tornado jayvees are 15-2 overall.

Chace Butler and Tevin McLean threw in 1st quarter baskets to keep the Eagles even at 4-4. McLean sank 3 of 4 free throws, and Malikah Moore tossed in a basket in the 2nd period, but Alex Stephens and Caleb Daniels led Fairmont to a 12-9 halftime lead.

Shannon Hankins and Keyshawn Kemp pumped in a basket and a free throw each in the 3rd quarter for East Bladen, and Moore and McLean added baskets to trim the margin to 21-19.

McLean lit up the scoreboard with 2 baskets and 4 free throws in the final period. Hankins flipped in a basket, and Kemp netted a free throw but Fairmont’s John Bristow tallied 4 of his 5 points in the quarter to keep the Tornadoes ahead.

McLean finished with 15 points to lead all scorers. Hankins totaled 5 points, and Kemp and Moore followed with 4 points each. Kaiden Fulmore led the Tornadoes with 7 points, Stephens scored 6 points, and Daniels tacked on 5 points.

The Eagles, now 6-4 in the SAC-7 and 12-6 overall, will host Red Springs Tuesday. Fairmont, 11-0 in league play, will entertain Red Springs Friday.
