ST PAULS – Yoshua McBryde tossed in 3 baskets to spark a 16-8 spurt that propelled St. Pauls to a 21-15 halftime lead and eventual 33-32 victory over East Bladen in Southeastern Athletic Conference action jayvee boys’ basketball action Friday.

Sherman Long bombed in a 3-point shot, and Chace Butler and Malikah Moore pumped in baskets as the Eagles edged ahead 7-5 early. Tevin McLean fired in 2 baskets and a free throw in the 2nd period, Keyshawn Kemp muscled in a basket and Butler added a free throw for East Bladen.

Long sank 2 baskets and 3 free throws during a 13-8 3rd quarter rally that pulled the Eagle to within 29-28. Hankins nailed a 3-point shot, and Kemp dropped in a basket.

Butler popped in 2 baskets in the final period, but Jakki Purcell’s basket and free throws by McBryde and Jamir Marzett kept the Bulldogs on top.

Long topped all scorers with 10 points for the Eagles. Butler finished with 7 points, and McLean added 6 points. Marzett and McBryde led St. Pauls with 8 points each.

The Eagle jayvees conclude their season with a 7-5 conference record and 13-7 overall mark.
