ELIZABETHTOWN – Damarion Bryant hurled in a 60-foot heave from the backcourt that lifted West Bladen to a 28-25 non-conference jayvee boys’ basketball victory over East Bladen Tuesday.

With the score tied and 1.7 seconds on the clock, Bryant launched the shot from the “tt” in the Patty Evers inscription on Patty Evers Court and it stripped the nets at the far end.

The Knights carried a 16-13 lead into the final period, but Keyshawn Kemp worked the paint for 8 of his game-high 10 points for East. Kemp tied the game at 25 with an 8-foot jumper from the lane.

Keonta Hill, JaQuan Lesane and Jamari Adams fired in 3-point shots for West in the 4th quarter to keep the Knights even prior to Bryant’s winning shot.

Adams and Sayvion Covington buried a pair of 3-point baskets each for West. Adams led the Knight scoring with 8 points. Bryant followed with 7 points, and Covington rang up 6 points. Lesane tallied 4 points.

Khalil McKoy drained a pair of 3-point shots in the 1st half and finished with 6 points for the Eagles. Kaden Johnson followed with 5 points.

It was the first win of the season for the Knights, now 1-3. West will visit South Columbus Thursday night. East Bladen, now 2-2, will host Purnell Swett Wednesday night.
