BLADENBORO — Keonta Hill scored 11 of his game-high 17 points during a 15-7 West Bladen 3rd quarter spurt that sparked the Knights to a 40-26 victory over Red Springs in Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee boys’ basketball action.
Coach Joe Harris’ Knight jayvees concluded their season with a 7-3 league mark and finished 10-8 overall. Varsity Coach Travis Pait said that this was the 1st West Bladen jayvee team to finish with a winning record in his 13 years at the school.
The Knights held a slim 18-16 lead when Hill fired in 3 baskets, a 3-point bomb and 2 free throws. Jamari Adams and Sayvion Covington sank 2 free throws each as the Knight lead grew to 33-23.
Hill tossed in a basket and a free throw in the final period. Justin Spaulding pumped in a basket, and Adams cashed in 2 free throws.
Adams followed Hill on the Knight scoring list with 7 points. Spaulding rang up 6 points, and Damarion Bryant chipped in with 5. Dallin Wilkins, E. Lowery and J. Brown shared scoring honors for the Red Devils with 8 points each.
Hill and Adams nailed 3-point shots in the 1st quarter. Ayden Williams and Bryant tossed in a basket each, but Red Springs jumped ahead 11-10. Bryant drained a 3-point shot, and Spaulding powered in 2 baskets in the 2nd period. Williams tacked on a free throw as the Knights took an 18-16 halftime lead.
