BLADENBORO – Pender defeated West Bladen 3-1 Thursday in non-conference jayvee boys’ soccer action.
Freshman Diego Santos-Hernandez scored the Knight goal and totaled 3 shots on goal. Sophomore Jennsen Santana Martinez, freshman Cristian Rodriguez and Shandell Gonzalez all had 2 shots on goal. Freshman Amine Mahdi also had a shot on goal.
Freshman Noah German was credited with 6 saves in goal for the Knights. Sophomore teammate Dylan Hernandez had 1save.
Mahdi keyed the West defensive effort with 6 steals. Junior John Randy Reyes-Garcia finished with 5 steals. Santana Martinez totaled 4 steals, and Santos-Hernandez, Gonzalez and sophomore Kevin Rojas-Reyes followed with 3 steals each.
The Knights, now 2-3, will travel to Lumberton Tuesday.
