BLADENBORO – West Bladen’s jayvees began their Southeastern Athletic Conference volleyball season Thursday with a 2-0 sweep of Clinton by set scores of 25-23 and 25-21.
West sophomore Kali Allen dished out 6 assists and drilled in 8 service points including 2 aces, 3 attacks, a kill and a block. Kimberly Dowless filled up the stat sheet with 5 assists, 8 service points including an ace, 3 attacks, a kill and 3 digs. Sophomore Jahyra Priest knocked in 6 service points including an ace, 2 attacks and a kill.
Freshman Ellie Kinlaw poured in 18 attacks, 5 kills, 2 blocks and a service point for the Lady Knights. Tah’lea Bethea spiked in 9 attacks, 3 kills and a block. Helaina Conklin slammed in 2 service points, 4 attacks and 2 kills.
Sophomore Makenna Thurman smacked in 7 attacks, 3 kills and a block for the winners. Freshman Karlee Gause banged in 2 service points, 5 attacks, a kill and had a dig. Sophomore Brenna Hester fired in 3 service points including an ace, and Shanna Lewis hammered in 6 attacks and 2 kills.
Coach Kaitlyn Sykes’ Lady Knights improved to 8-4 overall and will visit Lakewood Monday.
