West Bladen High School LogoSoEast Bladen High Schoolphomore Yolanda Coston poured in 8 first quarter points to spark East Bladen’s jayvee girls to a 16-9 first quarter lead, and the Lady Eagles went on to claim a 43-34 Four County Conference victory over visiting West Bladen Wednesday night.

Coston bombed in a pair of 3-point shots and added another bucket in the quarter. Guard Michelle Page rang up 6 of her 7 points in the opening period.

Jerena Purdie pumped in 7 points of West Bladen’s 9 points in the quarter.

Freshman Elizabeth Allbright tossed in 4 of her 6 points for West Bladen in the second period as the Lady Knights trimmed the East lead to 26-18 at halftime.

Shanya Allen who finished with 10 points for East Bladen dropped in 4 points in the second period and 4 more in the third as the Lady Eagles pushed the margin up to 36-25 at the third quarter break.

Tania Simpson drained a 3-point shot and flipped in a 2-point basket in the final quarter to keep the Lady Eagles on top. Simpson finished with 12 points to lead the East Bladen scoring.

Purdie fired in a game-high 14 points for West Bladen, and teammate Patience Parker followed with 8 points.

Coach Megan Kirby’s Lady Eagles improved to 3-2 in the conference and 6-4 overall. East Bladen travels to Midway Friday night, while the West Bladen girls host Wallace-Rose Hill Saturday at 2 p.m.
