FAIRMONT – Freshman Maddie Taylor pitched a 3 hitter and struck out 8 batters to lead West Bladen to a 20-4 Three Rivers Conference jayvee softball victory over Fairmont Monday.

More importantly Taylor did not walk or hit a batter, while the Lady Tornado pitchers walked 12 and hit 7 batters – 15 of those 19 batters receiving a free pass scored.

Haley Guyton and Lauren Pait belted run-scoring singles and scored runs in the Lady Knights 9-run, 1st inning. Kolee Wilkins, Kylee Ward, Taylor, Taylor Lewis, Kayla Norris and Olivia Allen all drew walks and scored runs. Guyton reached on an error and scored the 9th run. Wilkins drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Pait was hit by a pitch and Norris walked in the second inning. Both scored runs as the West Bladen lead grew to 11-1.

Wilkins and Ward drew walks, and Taylor and Pait were hit by pitches in the 3rd inning. Wilkins, Rode Parent, the courtesy runner for Ward, Taylor and Pait all scored to pad the lead to 15-1.

Taylor and Wilkins drew walks in the 4th inning, Ward smacked a single, and Pait reached on an error. Wilkins, the courtesy runner Parent, Taylor and Pait all scored as the margin swelled to 19-4.

Josie Troublefield was hit by a pitch and scored the final West Bladen run in the fifth.

Guyton, Ward and Pait cracked 1 hit and drove in 1 run each. Pait scored 4 runs, and Wilkins and Taylor scored 3 runs each. Norris, Guyton and Parent scored 2 runs each. Ward, Lewis, Troublefield and Allen scored one run each.

Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knights, now 1-1, will travel to Red Springs Tuesday.
