FAYETTEVILLE – Sophmore Erica McKoy, pitcher Brittany Landreth and freshman Kasee Singletary scored 3 runs each to lead West Bladen to a 12-5 jayvee softball victory over Village Christian Friday.
McKoy and Landreth both reached base on errors to begin the West Bladen first inning. After Singletary walked, Indiyah Williams slammed a double to clear the bases. Williams later scored on Erica Storms’ fielder’s choice to give the Lady Knights a 4-0 lead.
Village Christian scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first, but West Bladen answered with 3 runs in the top of the second. McKoy blasted a lead-off triple and dashed home when Landreth reached base on an error.
Singletary hammered a triple that drove in Landreth, and Storms knocked in Singletary with a single for a 7-3 West Bladen lead.
Village Christian scored a run in the bottom of the second, but West Bladen bounced back with 4 runs in the third. McKoy reached base on an error, and Landreth belted a single that scored McKoy. Singletary reached base on catcher’s interference.
Williams smacked a single that scored Landreth, and Williams dashed home on an error for an 11-4 West Bladen lead.
Storms cracked a single to lead off the West Bladen fourth. Caroline Hester swatted a single, and Ivanay Louis drove in Storms with a single.
Williams batted 2-3 with a double, 4 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to lead the West Bladen hitters. Storms finished 2-3 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and a run scored. Singletary smashed the rbi triple and scored 3 runs.
McKoy slammed a triple and scored 3 runs. Landreth delivered an rbi single and scored 3 runs. Louis laced an rbi single, and Hester added a single.
Landreth pitched the complete game victory for West Bladen and allowed 5 runs on 5 hits and 7 walks.
Coach Joe Lewis’ West Bladen squad improved to 6-5 with the victory.
