CLINTON – East Bladen’s jayvees claimed their 2nd volleyball win of the week Wednesday sweeping Clinton 2-0 by set scores of 25-17 and 25-14 in a non-conference match.

“I just knew Clinton was going to come at us full force from our first win against them,” said Lady Eagle Coach Jessica Eason. “But my girls brought their ‘A’ game tonight.”

The teams traded points and side-outs in the 1st set until freshman Kaylie Atkins banged in 4 consecutive service points to put East up 12-8. Freshman Marlee Potter stretched the margin to 16-9 with a trio of service points.

Sophomore Aubrei Nixon captured a service point, and freshman Tatum Allen fired in 3 more service points as the margin swelled to 22-15. Freshman Taylor Dowless served out the set winning a pair of service points.

Potter sparked the Lady Eagles to an early 7-1 lead in the 2nd set with 5 consecutive service points. Nixon and Allen tallied service points, before Dowless stretched the lead to 16-6 with a 4-point service run.

Sophomore Jenna Brice collected a pair of service points to keep the margin at 19-9. Potter won another service point, before Nixon served out the match with a pair of service points.

Potter led the Lady Eagles with 10 service points. Dowless finished with 6 service points, and Atkins smacked in 5 service points. Nixon and Allen contributed 4 service points each, and Brice delivered 2 service points.

East Bladen evened their record at 5-5 and will host West Columbus Thursday.
