ELIZABETHTOWN –East Bladen outlasted Heide Trask 27-25 in the 2nd set to complete a 2-0 Waccamaw Conference jayvee volleyball victory by set scores of 25-18 and 27-25.

Freshman Kaylie Atkins opened the match with 4 straight service points for the Lady Eagles. Trask rallied back to edge ahead 15-14, before freshman Marlee Potter answered with a 7-point service run that vaulted East in front 22-15. An Aubrei Nixon service point and a side-out closed out the set.

Three-point service runs from Potter and sophomore Mileigh Martin sparked East to a 10-4 lead in Set 2. Potter reeled off 3 more service points to keep the lead at 19-13. A 6-point Trask run tied the set 24-24, before Atkins served out the match with 2 service points.

Potter topped the East servers with 14 service points. Atkins racked up 8 service points. Martin tallied 3 service points, and Nixon and sophomore Jenna Brice followed with 2 service points each. Taylor Dowless added 1 service point.

Coach Jessica Eason’s Lady Eagles, now 6-4 in conference play and 9-8 overall, will host East Columbus Tuesday.
