ELIZABETHTOWN – Shanna Lewis served out the match with 5 straight service points as West Bladen rallied for a 2-0 victory over East Bladen in junior varsity volleyball action Thursday by set scores of 25-21 and 25-22.

Jenna Brice smacked in a service winner to put East up 22-19 in the final set, before a service winner and an ace started Lewis’ winning run.

Neither team led by more than 2 points in the opening set until Aubrei Nixon scored on a pair of blocks to help Tatum Allen win a trio of service points and put the Lady Eagles ahead 15-10.

A pair of service points from Tah’lea Bethea edged West ahead 17-16, before Kimberly Dowless reeled off 4 straight service points for a 22-17 Lady Knight lead. A Lewis service point upped the count to 24-18.

Kali Allen sparked West to a 6-0 lead in the 2nd set with a 5-point service run. Nixon swatted in a block and a service point, and Marlee Potter added 3 straight service points to tie the set 8-8. Brice tallied 5 straight service points aided by a pair of Taylor Dowless kills as East went up 14-9.

Kimberly Dowless finished with 8 service points, 2 kills, 4 assists and 2 attacks to lead the Lady Knights. Kali Allen drilled in 9 service points that included 4 aces and dished out 3 assists. Bethea hammered in 7 kills, a block, 2 service points and had a dig and 13 attacks.

Ellie Kinlaw pounded in 7 kills, a service point and had 17 attacks for West. Lewis finished with 5 service points, an ace, a kill, an assist and had 6 attacks. Karlee Gause added a service point, a kill and had 2 attacks.

Brice knocked in 8 service points including 2 aces and a return winner for East. Nixon racked up 3 service points, 2 kills and 3 blocks. Potter fired in 5 service points including an ace and a kill.

Tatum Allen slammed in 2 kills and 3 service points. Taylor Dowless smashed in 3 kills, and Kaylie Atkins added 3 service points including an ace.

Coach Kaitlyn Sykes’ Lady Knights improved to 2-1 and will host Heide Trask Monday. East Bladen, now 1-1, will travel to West Bladen Wednesday.
