Kenzil McCall Named East Bladen Men’s Basketball Coach
 
Clarkton native Kenzil McCall has been named the new head men’s basketball coach at East Bladen High School and has been approved by the Bladen County Board of Education.
 
McCall replaces Ken Cross who stepped down after the 2015-2016 season.  Concerning the hiring of McCall East Bladen Principal Jason Wray said, “ We are looking forward to a great season.”
 
A 1988 graduate of Clarkton High School, McCall played baseball for 3 years at Southeastern Community College and for one year at Mt. Olive College. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation from Mt. Olive.
 
McCall has served his country for 28 years in the Naval Reserve and has served 3 one-year tours of duty overseas – two of those tours were in Kuwait and his last one was in Africa.
 
McCall started his coaching career at Clarkton School of Discovery and later coached boys basketball for 3 years at Elizabethtown Middle School.
 
He was the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Whiteville High for one year and was also an assistant coach on the Whiteville baseball team.
 
Since 2003 except for the time that he was serving overseas, McCall has been helping coach football and baseball at East Bladen.
 
“I am excited and ready to get going,” said McCall. “I am looking for good things. I know the kids, and hopefully I can make a difference.”
 
McCall and his wife Yvette live in the Clarkton community and have 4 children – Katelyn (age 24), Justin (age 23), K. J. (age 18) and Kytera (age 11).
