CHARLESTON, SC – Former West Bladen athletic director and baseball coach Kim Cain has joined the coaching staff at West Ashley High School in Charleston as an assistant football and assistant baseball coach.

Cain will be reunited with Wildcat football head coach Donnie Kiefer and with former Robeson County Athletic Director Jeff Fipps. Cain was an assistant on Kiefer’s staff at Green Sea Floyds, SC in 2018 when the Trojans won the first of two state championships under Kiefer. Fipps was one of Cain’s students at Orrum High School where he started his teaching career.

West Ashley is conducting workouts now with football practice scheduled to begin on September 8. The Wildcats first game is slated for September 25.

The ring from Green Sea Floyds was Cain’s fourth state championship ring. He won football state championship rings in North Carolina as an assistant coach at South View in 1991 and at Wallace-Rose Hill in 1994. He also won a baseball state championship ring as an assistant at South View in 1991.

Cain, a Bladen County native, was also an assistant coach on New Bern High football teams that lost twice in the state championship game.

“I am looking forward to the season,” said Cain. “Coach Kiefer is the most prepared coach that I have ever seen. He is really great in the weight room.”
