Linemen and crews with the NC Department of Transportation were busy cutting trees out of roadways and repair damaged power lines, and assess damage.

According to NC Gov. Pat McCrory, 90 National Guard troops are now in Elizabethtown with 15 high water clearance vehicles to assist local emergency teams with rescues. The NC Highway Patrol is also sending additional troopers from Orange and Carteret County, according to Gov. McCrory.

Also, several swift water rescue teams have been dispatched, fire departments from neighboring counties, additional communications equipment, chainsaw crews, and incident management overhead teams to coordinate how to disperse resources, according to the Governor’s Office.
