In Bladen County, there have been numerous remarkable figures who have called this community home. Over the years, these hometown heroes have significantly contributed to the area’s success and enrichment. Now, it’s time to introduce a new hero to our list: Larrell Murchison, a Bladen County native born and raised. Murchison embodies the qualities of a hero, serving as a role model for youth and symbolizing hard work and commitment to the community.

Growing up in the Clarkton area, Larrell and his twin brother, Farrell, turned to youth football as a way to stay out of trouble. As they progressed into high school, their passion and talent for the game continued to shine. At East Bladen High School, under the guidance of head coach Robby Priest, the twins formed a formidable rushing duo. Farrell became known as the home run hitter, while Larrell took on the role of a fullback and short-yardage specialist, showcasing his powerful running style. Larrell also played linebacker on defense and served as his brother’s lead blocker during Farrell’s historic 2014-2015 season, where he broke East Bladen’s single-season rushing record.

While Farrell received more public recognition, Larrell remained humble and focused on the thankless and gritty aspects of the game, as long as it contributed to his team’s success. At East Bladen, Larrell’s dedication extended beyond the field, as he consistently outworked and out-hustled his peers.
