East Bladen junior Malcolm Bolden has been named to the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association Class 2A All-State Boys Soccer Team.

Bolden keyed the Eagle attack with 27 goals and 6 assists. The East forward recorded 6 ‘Hat Tricks’ of 3 goals or more during the season. “He was our attack this season having to rely on long balls and his speed to score,” said East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor. “Malcolm took the difficult task of having to do a lot for us and made the most of it, winning games and keeping us in games.”

Highlights for Bolden included: ‘Hat Trick’ against Red Springs, ‘Hat Trick’ and an assist against Midway, 4 goals in playoff game against Research Triangle and a goal against Class 4A state champ New Hanover – 1 of only 18 scored all year against the Wildcats.

“Coaches who have had the chance to see Malcolm play all say that he is something special,” shared Raynor.

Bolden became the 5th Eagle in program history to be named All-State and the 4th in the last 5 years. Other included: Izzy Evans (2011), Brooks McGill (2017), Gabe Barber (2019) and Garrett Melvin (spring 2021).
