Independence Day drew hundreds of folks to White Lake this July 4th. Scattered through out the town you could find many people enjoying the holiday in a variety of ways.

The day started for some at the motels lined across the lake or at their mobile home in Camp Clearwater. Many enjoying Sunset Slush of Bladen and their refreshing products at several different locations throughout the town.

White Lake Water Park was packed and hopping with excitement. There was a DJ, games, give aways and free food for their patrons to enjoy. The park even stayed open extra hours for their customers to splash around a little longer during the hot holiday.

A.D. & Chloe Naskarts was busy even after it rained a little. You could sit and watch the cart drivers race, or join in on the fun.

White Lake Christian Camp & Retreat Center held their second annual 4th of July Cookout during the evening. The place was swarming with plenty of food and friendly fellowship. Pastor Cameron McGill with the center said he had been praying for lots of opportunities to meet folks and share the love of Jesus.

Strolling on down to Goldston’s Beach you could find plenty of people shopping, enjoying the arcade games, having fun on the rides, and staring in wonder at the annual fireworks show sponsored by the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Many in attendance said they enjoyed the lake and what it has to offer.

One tourist said it was a very successful vacation and they would be back.

“I can’t believe we will be on the back half of the season after this week,” Dawn Maynard with the Chamber of Commerce said.

The fun will not be over though. The Sunset Jams concert series will continue at White Lake on Thursday, July 19th, with The Big Time Party Band and on Thursday, August 16th, The Fantastic Shakers will perform.

July will also kick off the Summer Sounds Concerts at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market in Elizabethtown. The line up is as follows: July 12, North Tower, July 26 Pizazz, August 9 Legendary Motown Revue and last but not least, the concerts will end on August 23 with Black Water Rhythm & Blues.
