Short, sweet and to the point, Bladen County Sheriff McVicker address the Elizabethtown – White Lake Chamber of Commerce at their monthSheriff McVickerly meeting today.  Working together with his team and other agencies seem to be the secret to his success.  McVicker thanked his staff, and many other agencies that have been working with him to make Bladen County a better place to live and work.

McVicker has kept his campaign promises.  No one at the department was dismissed once he took office.  He promised more training, and more training has been implemented. The last two officers we lost were from car accidents, therefore, driving safety courses have been offered.  Use of force and self-defense courses are also offered to officers now.

The ground breaking on the new jail will be started in the next 30 to 90 days. McVicker said, “We are trying to be as caution as we can about spending the money because we know it’s the tax payers money.  We know it’s not something we just want to do, but it’s something we have got to do.”

McVicker also reports that his department is working closely with our schools to keep them safe.  The court house new security screenings are now in effect and running smoothly.  McVicker ended with,”I’m very excited to be here.  I’m your Sheriff.  I know the taxpayers pay my salary.  I’m at your beck and call.  Anything you need we will be here for you, I can guarantee you that. I’m here for you when you need me.”

The Chamber meeting ended early in order to for members to attend the Ground – Breaking Ceremony at the new Dublin Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
