
BLADENBORO – Unbeaten Bladenboro scored 17 runs in the 1st 2 innings and claimed a 17-1 mercy rule victory over Tabor City Thursday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.
Luke Bryant led off the Bulldog 1st with a single, and Chase Bryan walked, before Ashton Davis clobbered a 3-run home run to left field. Devan Stanley reached base on an error, and Cole Brisson walked. A throwing error plated Stanley, and Brisson raced home on a wild pitch for a 5-0 lead.
Bladenboro racked up 12 runs in the 2nd inning. Walks to Bryan, Davis, Stanley and Brisson forced home Bryan. Sawyer King belted a single to left that scored Davis and Stanley. Brisson dashed home on a wild pitch, and Gauge King and Drake Gause drew walks. Andrew Wren cracked a single that scored Sawyer King and Gauge King.
Luke Bryant yanked a single to left that scored Gause, and Bryan laced a single to left-center that brought home Wren. Davis walloped a double to left that plated Bryant. Dalton Ammons reached base on an error that scored Bryan and Davis. Ammons darted home on a wild pitch to pad the lead to 17-0.
The Eagles scored in the 3rd inning on a single, a passed ball and an error.
Bryan struck out 5 and allowed an unearned run on 2 hits, 3 walks and a hit batter in his 3 innings on the mound. At the plate Bryan singled, walked twice, scored 3 runs and had 1 RBI.
Davis batted 2-for-2 with the home run, walk and the double. He scored 3 runs and had 4 RBIs. Bryant finished 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Sawyer King singled, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. Wren had a single and 2 RBIs, and Blake Britt smacked a single.
Brisson walked twice, scored twice and had 1 RBI. Gauge King walked twice and scored a run. Drake Gause walked and scored a run. Stanley walked and scored twice. Ammons scored a run.
Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs improved to 5-0 in conference play and 6-0 overall. Bladenboro will host Williams Township Tuesday.
