BLADENBORO – Righthander Corben Chadwick pitched a 3-hit shutout and struck out 8 batters to lead Bladenboro to a 4-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Nakina Wednesday.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs improved to 4-0 and will host Whiteville Central on April 11th. Nakina drops to 2-2 overall.

Gaston Russ led off the Bulldog 1st with a single, advanced on a pair of passed balls and scored when Chadwick drilled a double to centerfield.

The score remained 1-0 until Brooks Carroll belted a single to right-centerfield in the Bladenboro 5th inning, advanced on a pair of wild pitches and raced home on an error for a 2-0 lead.

Sawyer King walked to begin the Bulldog 6th inning, and Chadwick smashed a double to left. Luke Bryant’s fielder’s choice plated Sawyer King, and Chadwick dashed home on a wild pitch for a 4-0 lead. The 2-hour time limit expired moments later.

Chadwick batted a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with 2 doubles, a run batted in and a run scored. Russ, Sawyer King and Carroll all singled and scored runs. Bryant drove in a run.

Nakina’s Ventri Canady pitched a 6-hitter and struck out 8 batters. Teammate Walker Smith batted 2-for-3, and Brady McPherson cracked a single.
