HALLSBORO – Corben Chadwick pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 10 batters Tuesday to lead Bladenboro to a 9-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over East Columbus.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs posted their 1st ‘AA’ Division win and improved to 5-0 overall. Bladenboro will host Clarkton Thursday. East Columbus, 1-1 in ‘AA’ Division play and 5-1 overall, will host West Columbus Wednesday.

Chadwick walked 2 and hit a batter. An errant pickoff attempt allowed the only Gator run to score in the 4th inning.

Catcher Devan Stanley ripped a double to left field and scored the 1st Bulldog run on an error in the 2nd inning.

Sawyer King, Chadwick and Luke Bryant drew walks to start the Bladenboro 3rd inning. Cole Brisson reached base on an error, and Andrew Wren launched a sacrifice fly. Sawyer King, Chadwick, Bryant and Brisson all scored as the Bulldog lead grew to 5-0.

Gaston Russ was hit by a pitch, and Sawyer King reached base on an error to begin the Bladenboro 4th inning. Chadwick, Bryant and Brisson all yanked singles to left. Russ, Sawyer King, Chadwick and Bryant all scored to stretch the Bulldog lead to 9-1.

Stanley doubled, and Chadwick, Bryant and Brisson added 1 hit each. Sawyer King, Chadwick, and Bryant scored 2 runs each. Russ, Stanley and Brisson scored 1 run each. Wren drove in a run.

J. T. Hudson and pitcher Xavier King connected for 1 hit each for East Columbus. Owen Mintz walked and scored the Gator run.
