TABOR CITY – The Clarkton School of Discovery Blue Devils pounded out 16 hits Thursday as they defeated Tabor City 24-7 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball action.
Aiden Trinidad and Hunter Wood cracked singles to start the game, and Jaxon Hair reached base on an error. Cayden Moore walked, and Gabriel Wright, Omar Powell and Rex Register belted singles. Trinidad and Wood delivered their 2nd hits of the inning, and Noah German reached base on an error.
Trinidad and Wood scored 2 runs each in the inning, and Hair, Moore, Wright, Powell and Register scored 1 run each as the Blue Devils grabbed a 9-0 lead.
Moore and Ryne Priest drew walks, and Powell, Register and Trinidad laced singles in the Clarkton 2nd inning. Wood reached on an error before German blasted a triple to clean the bases. Hair knocked in German with a single then scored as Moore reached base on an error. Moore, Powell, Priest, Register, Trinidad, Wood, German and Hair all scored in the inning as the Blue Devil lead grew to 17-4.
Trinidad and German raked singles to begin the Clarkton 3rd inning. Hair reached base on an error, and Moore smashed a double as Trinidad, German and Hair scored to stretch the lead to 20-4.
Zahmarion Pone, Cayden Morton and Trinidad drew walks in the Blue Devil 4th inning, and German clobbered a triple that scored all 3 of them. German scored on Hair’s fielder’s choice to boost the lead to 24-7.
Trinidad batted a perfect 4-for-4 with a walk and scored 5 runs. German walloped a pair of triples and finished 3-for-5 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Register was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored. Powell batted 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Wood finished 2-for-5 at the plate with 3 runs scored. Moore doubled, walked twice and scored 2 runs. Hair singled and scored 3 runs, and Wright singled and scored a run. Priest, Pone and Morton all drew walks and scored 1 run each.
German picked up the victory on the mound for the Blue Devils giving up 7 runs on 7 hits and a walk while striking out 3 in his 4 innings of work.
Coach Robert Mazur’s Blue Devils evened their conference record at 3-3 and are now 3-5 overall. Clarkton will travel to Nakina Tuesday.
