BLADENBORO – Bladenboro opened the game with an 11-0 spurt that propelled the Bulldogs to a 37-27 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victory over Tar Heel Thursday night.

Hezekiah Adams nailed a 3-point shot to start the game then drove for another basket. Chase Williams, Cade Allen and Landon Stanley threw in baskets to push the Bulldog lead to 11-0.

Adams and Tylik McCall tossed in baskets, and Aaron Lewis sank 2 free throws for Bladenboro in the second quarter. Stefane Jessup and Cornelius Esters answered with baskets for the Panthers. I’Keir Murchison cashed in 2 free throws to keep Tar Heel within 17-6 at halftime.

Williams powered inside for 2 baskets and 3 free throws in the third quarter, and Adams raced to the rim for a trio of baskets to keep the Bulldog lead at 30-18. Murchison lit up the scoreboard with a 3-point bomb, a pair of other baskets and 3 free throws for the Panthers. Teammate Tavion Smith dropped in another basket.

Murchison continued to rally Tar Heel in the final period with 3 baskets and 2 free throws, and Jessup tacked on a free throw. McCall, Breenan Greene and Trent Meares connected for Bulldog baskets, and Jackson Pait hit a free throw.

Adams led the Bulldog attack with 13 points, Williams followed with 9 points, and McCall tallied 4 points. Murchison poured in 20 points for Tar Heel, and Jessup totaled 3 points.

Coach Joseph Gore’s Bulldogs improved to 3-1 in Waccamaw Division AA play and 5-2 overall and will travel to Whiteville Central Monday. Tar Heel, now 0-4 in league play and 0-5 overall, will visit West Columbus Monday.
