BLADENBORO – Bladenboro’s Lady Bulldogs built a 12-4 halftime lead en route to a 23-11 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victory over Tar Heel Thursday.
Brookee Singletary muscled in a rebound basket, and Megan Pait tossed in a 10-footer as Bladenboro took an early 4-0 lead.
Kali Allen and Mallory Bryan nailed 3-point shots, and Trinity Meares added a basket as the Lady Bulldogs widened the gap to 12-4 at halftime. Kiera Lewis drained a 3-point shot, and Jahyra Priest made a free throw for Tar Heel.
Priest and Tiannah Willis threw in baskets for the Lady Panthers in the third period. Brookee Singletary worked the paint for a basket, and Noria Singletary buried a 3-point shot to push the Lady Bulldog lead to 17-8.
Holland Davis flipped in a couple of baseline runners for Bladenboro in the final period, and Bryan added a basket. Willis popped in a basket, and Violet Allen sank a free throw for the Lady Panthers.
Bryan topped all scorers with 5 points, and Davis and Brookee Singletary finished with 4 points each for Bladenboro. Willis led Tar Heel with 4 points, and Lewis and Priest totaled 3 points each.
Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs improved to 4-0 in Waccamaw Division AA play and 5-2 overall and will travel to Whiteville Central Monday. Tar Heel, now 0-4 in league play and 0-5 overall, will visit West Columbus Monday.
