LAKE WACCAMAW– Braylon Waddell tallied 10 of his game-high 13 points in the 1st half as East Columbus built a 14-10 halftime lead en route to a 27-21 Waccamaw Middle School Conference ‘AA’ Division boys’ basketball victory over Elizabethtown Wednesday.

Jaden Lewis scored the only Cougar basket in the 1st period, but John Monroe and Fox Sutton drained 3-point shots and Sheldon Melvin sank 2 free throws to keep Elizabethtown within 14-10 at halftime.

Nathan Demery pumped in a 3rd quarter basket for the Cougars, and Monroe and Tykee Hill made free throws to keep Elizabethtown within 21-14. Damian Maynor bombed in a 4th quarter 3-pointer, and Devance Tatum and Demery threw in baskets for the Cougars.

Monroe and Demery led the Cougars with 4 points each. Sutton followed with 3 points.

Elizabethtown, now 1-4 in league play and 2-6 overall, will travel to Whiteville Central Monday.
