LAURINBURG- Jayce Hatcher fired in 15 points to lead the Emereau Bladen boys to their first win of the season 41-22 over Christ the Cornerstone Thursday night in middle school boys basketball action.

Hatcher worked the paint for 2 baskets and 2 free throws in the opening quarter. Conner Hill tossed in a basket, and Landyn Scott added a free throw for a 9-5 Aviator lead.

Scott pumped in 3 baskets in the 2nd period for the Aviators. Hatcher netted a basket and 2 free throws, and Cyncere Jessup and Cooper Long popped in baskets as the Emereau lead grew to 23-8 at halftime.

Conner Hill banged in 2 baskets for Emereau in the 3rd quarter. Hatcher and Joel Lewis flipped in baskets, Henry Simmons sank 2 free throws, and Scott hit one to stretch the lead to 34-11.

Hatcher, Long and Gaston Russ rang up a basket each in the final period, and Hatcher tacked on a free throws.

Scott followed Hatcher on the Emereau scoring list with 8 points, Hill finished with 6 points and Long tallied 4 points. J. Callahan led the Defenders with 7 points.

Coach Dom Whittington’s Aviators will host Riverside Christian Academy Tuesday at 4 p.m. Riverside does not have a girls team.
