TAR HEEL – Cedrick McKiver ran for 3 touchdowns Monday night to lead Tar Heel to their 1st victory of the season 36-6 over Clarkton School of Discovery in Waccamaw Middle School Conference football action.

The Blue Devils took the opening kickoff and kept possession of the ball for the entire 1st quarter with a long drive. Cayden Morton capped the Clarkton drive with a 1-yard touchdown run early in the 2nd quarter for a 6-0 CSD lead.

C.J. Lewis broke loose on a long touchdown run on the Panthers’ 1st snap from scrimmage. Cedrick McKiver banged into the end zone for the 2-point conversion and an 8-6 Tar Heel lead.

The Blue Devils mounted another drive but were eventually stopped on downs. McKiver dashed to the end zone and scored his 1st touchdown. Lewis carried for the conversion and a 16-6 Panther lead at halftime.

McKiver tacked on 2 more rushing touchdowns in the 3rd quarter that grew the Tar Heel lead to 28-6. Lewis scored his 2nd touchdown in the final period, and Ruben McDaniel bolted into the end zone for the conversion.

The Panthers improved to 1-5 with the win and will travel to Elizabethtown Thursday night. Clarkton, now 0-6, will host Bladenboro Thursday night to close out their season.
