BLADENBORO — Bladenboro’s Lady Bulldogs built a 25-11 halftime lead and withstood a 29-point performance by Tabor City’s D. Johnson to post a 41-33 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory Monday.

Hadley Dove nailed a 3-point shot, and Addison Wilcox, Amiya McCarty and Adyson Carroll tossed in baskets as the Lady Bulldogs edged ahead 9-6.

Six different players scored in the 2nd quarter as Bladenboro rode a 16-5 spurt to the halftime lead. Allison Hickman fired in 2 baskets and 2 free throws to lead the surge. McCarty, Carroll, Liz Miller, Venus Cortes and Maleigha Chatman popped in baskets in the period.

Wilcox took charge after halftime burning the nets with 2 baskets and 4 straight free throws. Hickman and Dove added baskets to keep the margin at 37-23. McCarty threw in 2 baskets in the final quarter, and Wilcox sank a free throw.

Wilcox led the Bladenboro scoring with 11 points. Hickman and McCarty finished with 8 points each Dove tallied 5 points, and Carroll chipped in with 4 points.

Coach Hayley Baxley’s Lady Bulldogs improve to 4-1 and will host East Columbus Tuesday. Tabor City will entertain Williams Tuesday.
