ELIZABETHTOWN — Sana’a Singletary and Ellen Battle pumped in 8 points each Tuesday to lead Elizabethtown to a 26-4 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Tar Heel.

Coach Cedric Owens’ Lady Cougars improved to 8-2 on the season and will visit Clarkton School of Discovery Wednesday. Tar Heel, now 0-10, will travel to Bladenboro Wednesday.

Singletary popped in a basket and 2 free throws, and Battle tossed in a basket as the Lady Cougars grabbed an early 6-0 lead. Battle and Singletary worked the paint for a basket each as the lead grew to 10-2 at halftime. Serenity Council fired in the Tar Heel 1st half basket.

Morgan Hammon flipped in a basket and a free throw in the 3rd quarter for Elizabethtown. Battle banged in a basket, and Zariyahh Riddy cashed in a free throw to stretch the lead to 16-2.

Singletary, Battle, Hammon, Riddy and Alexandra Riveria scored a basket each for the Lady Cougars in the final period. Savannah Wooten pumped in a basket for Tar Heel.
