CLARKTON — Ellen Battle scored 15 of her game-high 17 points in the first half as Elizabethtown rolled to a 38-5 victory against Clarkton School of Discovery on Wednesday in a Waccamaw Conference middle school girls basketball game.
Battle scored nine points in the first quarter as Elizabethtown raced to a 14-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. Hailey Taylor made a pair of free throws for Clarkton’s points.
Battle and Morgan Hammon scored all 10 of Elizabethtown’s points in the second quarter as Cougars opened a 24-5 halftime lead. Taylor had a basket and Zoey Barger had a free throw for the Blue Devils.
Elizabethtown outscored Clarkton 10-0 in the second half.
Both teams will participate in the Bladen County tournament next Tuesday at Bladenboro Middle School. Elizabethtown (9-2) will play Bladenboro and Clarkton (2-8) will play Tar Heel.
