ELIZABETHTOWN – Bladenboro defeated Tar Heel on the second round of penalty kicks Thursday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ soccer action at Bladen County Park.
The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie in regulation play. Both teams fired in 4 of their 5 penalty kicks in the firstround of the shoot-out. In the second round of penalty kicks, the Lady Bulldogs made 2 of their 5 attempts to claim the victory.
“Amerie Smith had a heck of a game with 7 saves in goal,” said Bladenboro Coach Kristen Parker.
The Lady Bulldogs evened their record at 3-3. The loss halted Tar Heel’s 4-game winning streak. The Lady Panthers are now 4-3.
Bladenboro will play Elizabethtown on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Bladen County Park. Tar Heel will travel to Williams Township on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
