NAKINA- Tar Heel outscored Nakina 3-0 Thursday in the penalty kick shootout to post a Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ soccer victory. Regulation play ended with the teams tied 2-2.
Rut Garcia drilled in the 1st Tar Heel goal in regulation play on a free kick from just outside the goalie box. Ashley Sandoval knocked in the other Lady Panther goal.
In the shootout Abigail Dew, Angelina Rodriguez and Oasis Labra fired in their kicks. Nakina missed their 1st kick in the shootout, and Dew blocked the next 2 Lady Mustang kicks to clinch the victory.
Coach Brett Jackson’s Lady Panthers improved to 5-1 and will visit Elizabethtown Monday.
