CLARKTON- Clarkton School of Discovery scored 8 runs in the final 2 innings Monday to post a 15-5 Waccamaw Middle School Conference mercy-rule softball victory over West Columbus.

Coach Melissa Singletary’s Lady Blue Devils, now 3-4, will travel to Tabor City Tuesday. West Columbus, now 2-4, and will host Bladenboro Tuesday.

Zoie Durden walked and scored a 1st inning run for CSD to tie the game 1-1.

Rhaniya McLean, Aniya Willis and Shenandoah Fowler drew walks to start Clarkton’s 6-run 2nd inning. Durden beat out an infield hit, and Maddie Hall singled. Jahzara Rouse drilled a double to left that cleaned the bases as the throw back in was thrown away.

Durden and Kynzlee Wood drew walks to start the Lady Blue Devil 4th inning. Kynslie Kinlaw and McLean drew 2-out walks. Durden, Wood, Kinlaw and McLean all scored to boost the CSD lead to 11-4.

Zariah Dill belted a single to start the Clarkton 5th inning. Durden and Wood cracked singles, and Rouse ripped a double. Rouse came around to score the game-ending run on a pair of wild pitches.

Wood went the distance in the circle for Clarkton and limited the Lady Warriors to 5 runs. Durden scored 4 runs to lead the Lady Blue Devil attack. Wood, Rouse and McLean scored 2 runs each. Hall, Kinlaw, Willis, Dill and Fowler scored 1 run each.
