BLADENBORO – Kaleigh Raynor pitched a 4-hitter and struck out ten batters to lead Elizabethtown to a 13-3 victory over Bladenboro Monday that clinched the Bladen Five Middle School Conference Softball Championship for the Lady Cougars.

Raynor only walked one and hit a batter as the Lady Cougars raised their record to 5-1. Bladenboro finished at 3-3 in the league.

Lainey Hughes slapped a single through the right side, stole second base and eventually stole home to put Elizabethtown ahead 1-0 in the top of the first.

Taylor West was hit by a pitch to start the Bladenboro second. Savannah Turbeville then lined a drive to right-centerfield that skipped past the rightfielder for a 2-run homer and put the Lady Bulldogs on top 2-1.

Laura Davidson, Armani Cowan and Abigail Madden all drew walks in the Elizabethtown second. Davidson darted home on a wild pitch to tie the game. Hughes hammered a shot off the secondbaseman for an infield hit that scored Cowan, and a throwing error on the play allowed Madden to race home for a 4-2 lead.

Madden drew a one-out walk in the Elizabethtown fourth, and Raynor blasted a home run over the centerfielder’s head for a 2-run home run that stretched the Lady Cougar lead to 6-2.

A 7-run Elizabethtown fifth inning broke the game open. Alyssa Suggs and Davidson drew walks before Alexus Mitchell slammed a drive to centerfield that eluded the fielder for a 3-run homer.

Cowan reached base on an error, and Madden beat out an infield hit. Both Cowan and Madden scored on an error. Raynor was hit by a pitch, and Cheylee Mathis walked. Both Raynor and Mathis dashed home on wild pitches for a 13-2 lead.

Lainey Autry beat out an infield hit to start the Bladenboro fifth inning, stole second base and scored when pitcher Rylee Chadwick ripped a single over the third base bag.

Hughes batted 2-4 with a run batted in and a run scored to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Mathis slugged the 3-run home run, and Raynor walloped the 2-run homer and scored twice.

Madden singled and scored 3 runs. Davidson and Cowan scored 2 runs each, and Mathis and Suggs scored one run each.

Chadwick batted 2-3 with an rbi to lead Bladenboro. Turbeville clubbed the 2-run home run, and Autry singled and scored a run. Taylor West also scored a run.

Chadwick struck out 12 batters and allowed 5 hits, 9 walks and 2 hit
