ELIZABETHTOWN- Jenna Brice pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 13 batters Monday to lead Emereau Bladen to a 10-1 softball victory over Columbus Christian at Bladen County Park.

Martha Simmons and Madison Sullivan both reached base on passed 3rd strikes in the 2nd inning and both scored runs as Emereau grabbed a 2-0 lead.

After a Columbus Christian home run in the top of the 3rd inning sliced the lead to 2-1, the Lady Aviators exploded for 7 runs in the home half of the third. Laci Bufkin reached base on a passed 3rd strike to start the inning and eventually scored.

Taylor Dowless, Mollie Tolar, Brice, Simmons, Gracie Clark and Aubrei Nixon all connected for hits in the 3rd inning and all of them scored as the lead grew to 9-1.

Tolar led off the 4th inning with a single and came around to score the final Emereau run. Tolar batted 2-for-3 and scored twice to lead the Lady Aviator attack. Simmons, Dowless, Brice, Clark, Nixon and Bufkin connected for one hit each. Simmons scored twice, and Dowless, Brice, Clark, Sullivan, Nixon and Bufkin scored one run each.

Emereau, now 2-0, will travel to Nakina Tuesday at 4 p.m.
