CLINTON – Addison Douglas and Bristol Allen poured in 30 service points Thursday to lead Emereau Bladen to a 3-1 middle school volleyball victory over Sampson Middle by set scores of 25-13, 25-21, 15-25 and 25-14.

Douglas lit up the scoreboard with 16 service points that included 8 aces. Allen pounded in 14 service points that included 7 aces. Teammate Bella Beard knocked in 11 service points that included 2 aces.

Mollie Sasser tallied 5 service points for the winners, and Harlie Shaw and Julia Flowers added 4 service points each. Shaw and Flowers hammered in 1 ace each, and Vera Valentiner had 1 service point.

Allen and Beard sandwiched service runs of 6 points each around a 5-point service run from Douglas as the Lady Aviators raced to a 23-13 lead in the opening set. Sasser served out the set after a side-out.

Three-point service runs from Harlie Shaw and Allen sparked the Lady Aviators to an early 11-3 lead in Set 2. Sampson battled back to even the set at 17-17, but Allen delivered a 4-point service run, and Douglas served out the set with a pair of service points.

A trio of service points from Beard edged Emereau ahead 10-8 in the 3rd set, but Sampson answered with a 17-5 run to claim the set.

Four Douglas service points staked the Lady Aviators to a 9-3 lead in Set 4. The teams traded side-outs until a 3-point service run from Douglas and 2 Beard service points pushed the lead to 22-14. Sasser served out the match with a pair of service points.

Emereau Bladen improved to 10-1 on the season and traveled to Cape Fear Academy Monday.
