LOUISBURG – West Bladen’s Colin Britt fired an 85 Monday in the NCHSAA 2-A MidEast Golf Regional at The River Golf Club at Lake Royale to qualify for next week’s state tournament at Longleaf Golf Course in Pinehurst. Britt has an 11:10 a.m. tee time Monday.

The Knights finished sixth in the team standings with a 370 total score. Seaforth won the regional with a 317 followed by Raleigh Charter (345) and Research Triangle (349). Only the top 3 teams out of 10 competing in the regional advanced to the state tournament.

The top 9 finishers who were not on one of the top 3 teams advanced to the state tourney as individuals. Britt’s 85 tied for 4th best among those qualifiers. Other area players advancing were: Midway’s Jack Hazelbeck (84) and Kaison Marley (85), Clinton’s Brock Sumner (86) and South Columbus’ Noah Greene (85).

East Bladen’s Chase Knight just missed qualifying with an 89. Teammate Bailey Williams recorded a 92. Other West Bladen scores were: Daniel Gustafson (95), Trent Meares (95), Nolan Sessoms (95) and Isaac Mendoza (99).
