The baseball and softball teams at both Bladen County high schools qualified for the state playoffs and are scheduled for first-round games Tuesday.

Pairings were announced Monday afternoon by the N.C. High School Athletic Association.

Girls’ soccer pairings are expected to be announced Friday.

The East Bladen baseball team is the lone Bladen school that will play at home Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The Eagles (11-10) are the 16th seed in the 2-A East bracket and will host No. 17 East Duplin (14-8), which finished third in the East Central Conference. Admission is $7.

The West Bladen baseball team (13-8) was seeded No. 25 and is matched against No. 8 seed Heide Trask, which was co-champion in the Waccamaw 1A-2A conference and has a 16-6 overall record. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Rocky Point.

In softball, West Bladen, which finished second in the Southeastern Athletic Conference with a 10-2 record and are 15-7 overall, was seeded 20th in the 32-team bracket and will play at No. 13 South Lenoir at 6 p.m. South Lenoir, which is located in Deep Run, is 11-6 and finished second in the East Central Conference.

East Bladen (12-10) was seeded No. 26 and drew No. 7 seed and Northern Lakes Athletic Conference champion South Granville (15-5) in Tuesday’s first round. Game time is 6 p.m. The school is located in Creedmoor. Tickets are available online, by credit card and may be purchased with cash at the gate.

The second round of the state playoffs are scheduled Friday.

If the East Bladen baseball team wins, it would play the winner between No. 1 Midway and No. 32 Bunn.

If the West Bladen baseball team wins, it would play the winner between No. 9 East Carteret and No. 24 Edenton Holmes.

If the West Bladen softball team wins, it would play the winner between No. 4 Midway and No. 29 Whiteville.

If the East Bladen softball team wins, it would play the winner between No. 10 Franklin Academy and No. 23 Southwest Edgecombe.
