Murchison explained he likes to give back to his hometown community because he loved it when he was younger, and others would come back to talk to him. He said, “Since I am in a position now to help someone else, why not?”

Although Murchison was unable to attend the event, his mother, Glenda, and other family members came out to distribute the bicycles. Safe Kids of Bladen donated helmets to be given away with the bikes.

Bladen County Public Library collected toys to be distributed at the event with Santa Clause on-site to wish the children well this holiday season. Barefoot Brew also attended, and free drinks were given to the first 50 people in line.

The line was long for the toy drive, but over 60 children received gifts for Christmas thanks to hometown hero Larrell Murchison, his family, and the Bladen County community.
