The annual Bladenboro Spring Fling date was set for Saturday, April 4, 2020, but according to committee chair, Penny Walters, the event has been canceled.

Boost the Boro, Inc., a local non-profit in Bladenboro plans the spring festival each year. Although this year, the event was canceled due to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 the members are making plans for next year’s event.

Walters stated Bounce, the band scheduled to entertain this year, offered to play next year on April 3, 2021.

During the last meeting of over 30 people, Boost the Boro members discussed asking for a permanent stage to be built where the old eye doctor’s office is being torn down in the parking lot beside First Citizens Bank.

The photo above shows the space/building the group was discussing in reference to the stage area.

“This way we don’t have to find a stage and put it up for every event. Having a permenant stage will make holding events in the downtown area easier and it will look nice,” Boost the Boro member, Joyce Walters stated.

Terry Nance, President of Boost the Boro, thanked everyone for their hard work on the project. More information will be provided as soon as it is made available.
