Hundreds bid farewell to Master Trooper Kevin Keith Conner yesterday at South Columbus High School. The 38-year-old Bladenboro native was the victim of a senseless murder last week while doing his job. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.
Best I can tell, most of our area is slowly returning to normal after two hurricanes, with a few exceptions, one being the delivery of my regional newspaper. Have subscribed to it for 40 to 50 years, delivery before the storms was sometime before 9 AM, yesterday sometime between 12:30 and 4 PM. Dare not complain, again, doesn’t work, caused longer delay, after I complained last week. Understandable, I guess, delivering a $1 (?) paper, using gas that sells for $2.50 to $3.00 a gallon is not profitable, but someone takes my subscription money. One option is to cancel, but old habits are hard to break. Guess you could say I am addicted.
More drawings this week for a couple of lottery jackpots in the multi-million, one multi-billion dollar range. Tickets range from $1 to $3 range (guess there is a $1 ticket) and they will be selling like hotcakes. How much will you pay to have a chance of winning? Best I can tell, the chance to win is in the range of 1 in something over 300 million, but there’s always that one chance, right?
