Moores Creek National Battlefield Adjusts Plans for October 14 Event

Currie, NC – Due to the forecasted weather for Saturday, which includes the expectation of showers, thunderstorms, and wind gusts, Moores Creek National Battlefield has regrettably decided to cancel the outdoor colonial activities initially scheduled for the Outlander at Moores Creek Bridge event on October 14.

While canceling the outdoor colonial activities is disappointing, the park is committed to offering visitors a memorable experience. Therefore, they invite you to attend three enlightening guest speaker presentations in Patriot’s Hall at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. on Saturday.

In addition to the guest speakers, the park has arranged for a special musical performance by a bagpiper from the Wilmington Police Pipes and Drums, who will delight attendees with a selection of bagpipe music at noon and 2 p.m. Here is the updated schedule for your reference:

Event Schedule:

11 am: Christine Lamberton, Museum Director, Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens, will present “Outlander in the Cape Fear.”

12 pm: Bagpipe Music

1 pm: Catherine Fort, President of the Scottish Society of Wilmington, will discuss the Gaelic language, including an opportunity for attendees to learn some Gaelic language.

2 pm: Bagpipe Music

3 pm: Dr. Kimberly Sherman from Cape Fear Community College will deliver a presentation on “Crossing the Atlantic: Scottish Emigration to North Carolina, 1739-1775.”

If you have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact park staff. Jason Collins, Chief of Interpretation with

Moores Creek National Battlefieldsaid, “We hope you’ll still join us for these indoor programs on Saturday!”

The Battlefield is located at 40 Patriots Hall Drive, Currie, NC 28435.
