On August 25 Ronald Phillip (Phil) Allen was presented The Order of the Long Leaf Pine by North Carolina House Representative William Brisson. This is the highest award given by the State of North Carolina for volunteer work. Mr. Allen has been a volunteer for over 44 years for the Tar Heel Rescue Squad and Fire Department. He was one of the first chartered members for both.
Mr. Allen also serves on various committees in the county and organizations to help others. He is a lifelong resident of Bladen County and has spent most of his life trying to help others.
A reception was held at Tar Heel Baptist Church. Mr. Allen stated he could not have done anything without the help of his family and friends it was a joint effort.
