Lee Barnes and Hezekiah Blanks-Adams combined to pitch a one-hitter and strikeout 8 batters in 4 innings Monday night as the Red team posted a 15-0 mercy-rule victory over the Grey in Bladen Recreation 13-14 Baseball action at County Park.

Barnes worked the first 3 innings on the mound and struck out 6 batters, while allowing only a 2nd-inning single to Colton Daly. Blanks-Adams struck out 2 batters and walked one in the 4th inning.

Blanks-Adams reached base on an error, and Cade Allen was hit by a pitch to begin the Red 1st inning. Barnes and Luke Howell drew walks, and Blanks-Adams and Allen scored runs for a 2-0 Red lead.

Conner Smith drew a walk to begin the Red’s 2nd-inning. Blanks-Adams belted a single, Allen walked and Matthew Kemp slammed a double that scored Smith and Blanks-Adams for a 4-0 Red lead.

The Red team exploded for 11 runs in the 3rd inning. Barnes walloped a triple to start the inning. Aiden Russ reached base on an error that scored Barnes. Luke Howell, Jonah Bryan, and Conner Smith drew walks, Richard Severine was hit by a pitch, Allen walked and Kemp reached base.

Russ, Howell, Bryan, Smith, Severine, Allen and Kemp all scored as the lead grew to 12-0. Barnes, Russ and Howell drew walks and scored runs, and Bryan smacked a single for a 15-0 lead.

The Red improved to 3-0 with the victory.
