The Jim and Sue Schultz Foundation presented checks for $5,000 to both East Bladen and West Bladen athletic departments Friday night at the football game between the schools played at Lenon Fisher Stadium.

The foundation was formed by brothers Jimmy, Joey and John Schultz following the tragic death of their parents in a vehicle accident in May 2022. As a way to honor their legacy, the foundation’s purpose is to offer support for local athletics and give back to the community that Jim and Sue loved so much.

The Schultz Foundation also donated $5,000 to Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Baseball last week.

The Schultz’s appreciation and enjoyment of sports in Bladen County and surrounding areas was undeniable. From coaching, keep statistics, helping in the concession stand, or just being loyal fans, Jim and Sue were deeply involved while their boys played sports. The couple was still attending games until their unexpected passing.

The Schultz brothers expressed sincere appreciation to everyone who donated time and money to help the Jim and Sue Schultz Foundation achieve its goals.

The foundation raised money this year by hosting a dinner and golf tournament, both held in June.

Through continued support, the foundation plans to host the fundraising dinner and “Whack Smack It” golf tournament for years to come. The 2024 fundraising dinner is scheduled June 13 and golf tournament June 14.
