A single vehicle crash in the Ammon community took the life of one Bladen County man on Wednesday.
Roman Blake Barnes, 29, of Garland, was killed when his 1999 Buick Regal crashed on Wednesday morning on Old Fayetteville Road near NC 242, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Sgt. Ezzel said Barnes was driving east on Old Fayetteville Road when he entered a right-hand curve and his car began to slide. Sgt. Ezzel said Barnes overcorrected and the vehicle ran off the road to the left and struck a ditch and overturned. Sgt. Ezzel said Barnes, who was ejected from the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt.
The funeral service for Barnes is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23, at Beard’s Chapel Baptist Church. Visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 22, at Beard’s Chapel Baptist.
