RAEFORD – Hoke County exploded for 8 runs in the 1st 2 innings en route to an 11-1 non-conference softball victory over West Bladen Wednesday night.

Alaina Goins batted 2-for-3, scored 3 runs and drove in a run to lead the Lady Buck hitters. Aliya Mack finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Amia Carter batted 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Emma McGee and Alyssa Casavilla slammed doubles and scored runs, and Kalea Parker knocked in 2 runs with a single that ended the game via the mercy rule in the 6th inning.

Senior Jessalynn Vendrick crushed a solo home run over the center field fence in the 4th inning for the West Bladen run.

Junior Kaitlynn Brisson cracked a 2nd inning single for the Lady Knights. Sophomore Lena Trinidad drilled a single to center field in the 3rd inning, and sophomore Gracie Faircloth belted a 4th inning single for the other West hits.

Junior Kylie Durden started in the circle for West Bladen and allowed 8 runs – 7 earned – in 1-plus innings on 8 hits and 2 walks. Junior Madison Taylor pitched 4 innings of relief and gave up 3 runs – no earned runs – on 3 hits and a walk while striking out two. Durden had 1 strike-out.

West Bladen, now 3-7, will host Fairmont Friday night at 6 p.m.
