The SFGA began their 2016 golf season with a tournament Tuesday, March 1 at Land O’ Lakes Golf Course near Whiteville with a total of 68 players. These weekly tournaments, held each Tuesday, consist of senior golfers in the area.
The winners of the season-opening tournament were Emery White, C.L. Gore, Hugh Brady and Charles Hungerford. They shot 21-under 51. Tying for second place with scores of 53 were Rob Conway, Danny Wiggins, Otis Evans and Rob Cox and the team of Burnice Nance, Wilbur Simmons, Bill Small and Willard Storms.
The Tuesday, March 8 tournament is scheduled for Fairmont Golf Course. Anyone interested in joining the organization can call Linwood Hedgepeth at 910-734-7161.
