Thoughts While ShavingA salute to the Bladen County Sheriff’s  Department for their ongoing “drug bust.”  A never ending task….Illegal use of drugs is a poor choice for anyone……

I mentioned earlier how a year ago the future of the golf course near White Lake was in doubt…..A trip to or by the Vineyard Golf at White Lake leaves little doubt about its future…..It is a busy place…..good….Had an occasion to travel in the area about 6:30 a.m. Saturday and “low and behold” golfers had already teed off and more were waiting…..Thanks to the owner (Bill Augustine) and those that welcome all to “come and play” (employees)….Oh yes, I am told the course is in great shape.

Filing for municipal elections is off to a good start.  Elizabethtown and White Lake incumbents filed on the fist day….Usually a “burst” of activity early, a time of little activity and then more just prior to the filing deadline. Every town in the county has positions that will expire on the first Monday in December. Newcomers are welcome…The Bladen County Board of Elections, behind the Post Office, is the place to file or to receive info related to the election.

We can expect 90+ degree weather for the next few days….

Tough loss for the Elizabethtown DYB Tournament last night…4-3 loss to West Robeson…Both teams were undefeated prior to last night….E-town plays Fairmont tonight at 6 in an elimination game.

I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career.  I’ve lost almost 300 games.  26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life.  And that is why I succeed.  Michael Jordan
